Bottle Deposit Proposed For Water And Juice

A bill has been introduced in Lansing to expand the state’s bottle deposit law to water bottles, as well as other non-alcoholic, non-carbonated drinks, such as juice and tea containers.

The bill, which would keep the deposit at ten cents per container, is sponsored by Michigan Senate Democrat Rebekah Warren of Ann Arbor.

Current law already requires containers of soda pop, beer and wine coolers to carry a ten cent deposit.
