Bills to end Daylight Saving Time Gaining Little Traction

As we prepare to turn our clocks back an hour Sunday for Daylight Saving Time, there are two efforts in Lansing to end the twice yearly ritual of springing forward or falling back.

State Representative Jeff Irwin, D-Ann Arbor, was first out of the gate introducing a bill in March to eliminate Daylight Saving Time.

And State Representative Pete Lucido, R-Shelby Township, followed suit introducing a similar measure a few weeks ago.

His bill would both end Daylight Saving Time and bring four Upper Peninsula counties along the border with Wisconsin currently on Central Time into the Eastern Time zone.

Although Lucido says he’s flexible on the latter.

Neither bill has had a hearing.
