Bill Would Stop Teacher’s Paid Leave For Union Work

School districts would no longer have to provide paid leave for employees that use that time to do union work, under legislation being considered by state lawmakers.

Senate Republican Marty Knollenberg says the bill would ensure taxpayer dollars stay in the classroom and out of the hands of union lobbyists.

But Julie Rowe of the American Federation of Teachers says in most cases the union reimburses districts for this time.

The measure is in the Senate Education Committee.
