Bill Would Compensate Innocent People Convicted Of A Crime

Michigan would compensate those who were convicted of a crime they didn’t commit under a bill that passed a House committee.

Under the legislation if someone was thrown in prison and they were innocent, they would be entitled to $60,000 a year for every year they were behind bars.

The program could cost the state upwards of $15 million a year.

The bill now awaits a vote in the full House.
