Bill Gives H.S. Graduates STEM Endorsement

High School graduates could get a special STEM endorsement on their diploma under a measure before a state senate committee in Lansing.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

STEM classes are different in that they allow students to work more directly with materials.

And senate Republican John Proos of St. Joseph, the sponsor of the STEM bill in the senate, says the endorsement can provide an incentive to students to continue to take challenging courses, “knowing that the jobs of today and tomorrow are right before them.”

A similar bill is before a house committee.
