Bill Empowers VA To Fire Bad Employees

The Department of Veterans Affairs could be granted sweeping new authority to fire corrupt or incompetent employees under a bill introduced by Congressman Dan Benishek.

Benishek says it is just common sense that we allow the Secretary of the VA to dismiss employees whose failures or misdeeds have threatened the health and well being of American veterans.

The bill will also create new protections for whistleblowers helping to uncover mismanagement at the VA.

Benishek says  employees who report problems at the VA need to be protected from retaliation.

Benishek is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Veterans Health.
