A bill to help speed up the process of reporting child abuse passed the state Senate Thursday.
The measure would require the state implement an online system for the reporting of child abuse and neglect.
Senator Judy Emmons is the main sponsor.
She says mandated reporters like doctors, teachers and social workers sometimes can’t quickly report abuse due to a backlog of calls. Emmons says her bill would allow them to make the report online.
Emmons says her hope is that it will result in quicker reporting of child abuse and neglect cases.
The bill now heads to the House.
