There is a shortage of a vital resource in our area that is affecting children: There aren’t enough volunteers to be a Big Brother.
U.P. Kids Program Director Maggie Munch says there are 18 boys currently on a waiting list for someone to step up.
There are also three girls on the waiting list for a Big Sister.
Munch says Big Brothers and Big Sisters can be of any age.
Registration is also currently open for the 24th Annual Copper Country Bowl for Kids.

The 24th Annual Copper Country Bowl for Kids is scheduled to take place on Saturday – March 19, 2016 with bowling sessions starting at Noon, 2PM, and 4PM at the Mine Shaft in Houghton.

This event is definitely not about the bowling; it’s about having FUN for a good cause, so anyone can participate! Individuals and Teams of 4 to 8 people are welcome to register for this special event and help U.P.Kids Big Brothers Big Sisters to raise funds for local mentoring programs exclusively benefiting children and youth in the Copper Country. Each participant raises pledges with a minimum of $37 per bowler. In addition, Teams can hold a mini-fundraiser prior to the event to raise funds as a group. With $37 minimum per bowler you are eligible for 2 hours of bowling, pizza compliments of Pizza Hut, an entry in the “Everyday Heroes” Drawing, great prizes and a lot of FUN! Plus, raise more money and you’ll qualify for more prizes!
U.P.Kids Big Brothers Big Sisters programs help children to realize their full potential and build their futures. We nurture children, support families and strengthen communities. And we couldn’t do any of this without YOU! Participating in Bowl for Kids is a great way to make a positive, long-lasting impact on children in your community.
