The Flint water crisis took center stage at Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders rally at Eastern Michigan University Monday afternoon.
The Vermont senator met with Flint residents before the rally and afterwards proposed a $1 trillion nationwide campaign to fixing aging water service lines, sewers, roads and bridges.
He questioned if Flint is the canary in the coal mine, meaning will it be the first city of many to have lead contaminated water because of old lead service pipes.
The Detroit News reports that Sanders, during a Monday night rally hosted by the United Auto Workers, noted if the United State can rebuild Afghanistan than it should be able to rebuild Flint.
Sanders has repeatedly called on Governor Rick Snyder to resign over the Flint water crisis.
