The Wisconsin man who was convicted on several counts for an armed robbery in Watton has been sentenced. Bernard Fish will spend up to 40 years in prison for his involvement in the incident. He was sentenced today in Baraga County Circuit Court to 20 to 40 years on each count of armed robbery, 5 to 20 years on each count of extortion, 2 to 4 years on the impersonating a police officer charge, and 5 to 15 years on each unlawful imprisonment charge. The sentences will run concurrently. Fish was credited for 360 days served. Fish was originally scheduled for sentencing Monday, but it was delayed so Fish and his attorney could review video from the Baraga County Jail. It was alleged that Fish could be seen with a homemade knife in the video. However, that video didn’t exists. But a corrections officer and a Sheriff’s Department deputy testified that a search of Fish’s jail cell turned up a piece of metal at least seven inches long underneath a table. The CO said that Fish told her, unsolicited, that he had it but never wanted to harm anyone with it. His accomplice, Donavan Waupoose, will be sentenced Tuesday.
