First District U-S Representative Jack Bergman chaired his first meeting of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations yesterday. He opened an inquiry into a report released recently by the General Accounting Office regarding Veterans Administration drugs and supplies that are being stolen. The retired general accused the VA of not having sufficient safeguards to prevent drug theft, including regular inventory counts, and employee background checks. See Bergman’s full remarks here.
