Congressman Dan Benishek is visiting the Upper Peninsula this week, touring businesses and talking with residents.
The 1st District representative got an inside look at manufacturing going on in Calumet and the Keweenaw National Historical Park on Monday.
Tuesday began with a tour of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Area at the Advanced Technology Development Center on the campus of Michigan Tech.
Congressman Dan Benishek said, “Many of the local hospitals contributed to the creation of this facility so that they would have students training here in Northern Michigan and know what Northern Michigan is like, grow to love to the area and be able to have more of those people stay here in Northern Michigan and work here and provide for the care of the people living here”
Congressman Benishek continues his U.P. tour today with a visit to Bessemer where he will present a Congressional Award to A.D. Johnston High School student James Jendrusina.
The Congressional Award recognizes four avenues of individual growth—community service, physical fitness, exploration, and personal development—and how the fulfillment of these goals forms balanced and promising young citizens.
