As a federal lawsuit commences to pave the way for the building of a road to service traffic to and from the Eagle Mine, the Upper Peninsula’s voice in Washington is expressing his support.
County Road 595 has been blocked by a ruling from the EPA. The Marquette County Road Commission, along with Stand U.P, is fighting that decision.
Congressman Dan Benishek says the EPA’s ruling simply doesn’t make sense.
Benishek said he would like to see the people of the U.P. put first.
The lawsuit calls for the permit application for County Road 595 to be remanded back the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
