Battle Over Paid Time Off Benefits Underway

Lawmakers in Lansing took a first round of testimony Tuesday on a measure that would keep local governments from forcing employers to provide benefits like paid time off.

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce backs the bill and says it will keep workplace policies consistent in Michigan.

Labors unions oppose the bill saying local governments have the right to decide how private sector workers are treated.
