Charitable groups fighting the state’s efforts to impose new rules on charity poker games have filed an action in the Court of Claims trying to block the rules. The action came as a House committee is still reviewing legislation that would set new regulations in place overseeing the charity games. The Court of Claims action was brought by 14 different charities, suppliers of gaming equipment and gaming rooms, charging the proposed rules by the Michigan Gaming Control Board run outside of the regulatory authority in the state’s Charitable Gaming Act. No time frame on any hearings has been announced.
