Batteries Stolen Out Of U-Hauls In Atlantic Mine

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a larceny of nine vehicle batteries.

The theft took place late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

The batteries were taken out of several U-Haul trucks in the parking lot of the U-Haul Moving and Storage lot on M-26 in Atlantic Mine.

Authorities say there were 5 ‘Group 78’ batteries and 4 ‘Group 65’ batteries taken.

There was a smaller dark colored car with roundish tail lights seen in the parking lot between 2:30am and 3:00am with at least two people in it.

The incident remains under investigation.
