Throughout the year The Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Homes works to raise awareness for domestic violence issues. Some events include the annual Ride Against Abuse that will take place in October. Or the organization’s largest fundraising event on the golf course for the annual golf outing. This Friday the organization will host its 16th annual Music Celebration and Silent Auction. BKG Shelter Director Mary Niemela says that this event is important for the shelter. They not only raise funds for personal and living items for victims but also raise awareness for the shelter’s services available in the Copper Country.
Chad Borgen and the Collective will play for us. This is the first that’s he’s played for us and we’ve been hearing a lot of good things. So I’m hoping to have a good crowd. But we will take time and thank everybody and tell them a little bit about the shelter and let people know that that we are in the area and we’ve been there for a long time. We hope to stay there for a lot longer. – Mary Niemela, Director, BKG Shelter Home
BKG Shelter suggests attendees provide a 10-dollar donation while at the Calumet Golf Club this Friday for Chad Brogran and the Collective. A silent auction will also occur during the evening with items, and certificates from local businesses, restaurants, and experiences. The BKG Shelter’s 16th annual music and silent auction celebration will begin at 6:30 pm on Friday.
