Baraga SVDP Food Pantry Dedicated

The Saint Vincent dePaul organization in Baraga County celebrated a major expansion Wednesday with the dedication of its new food pantry. The pantry is located in the former Snyder Drug Store on Broad Street. The building had been empty for six years, after the pharmacy was purchased by Pamida. Saint Vincent spiritual advisor Deacon John Cadeau said the building’s owner sold it to them at almost no cost. The food pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers. It serves about 90 families per month. The building will also house the Superior Watershed Partnership’s home heating assistance program, which is managed by St. Vincent dePaul. Cadeau says they may find space for some other service organizations. The St. Vincent dePaul Thrift Store continues to operate at its traditional location on Main Street.
