BAC Level Lowered for Watercrafts, Snowmobiles and ORVs

Governor Rick Snyder has signed legislation to change the legal blood-alcohol limit for drivers operating watercraft, snowmobiles and off-road vehicles. The bills make the blood alcohol limit 0.08 in Michigan while operating all watercraft, snowmobiles and off-road vehicles. The legislation reduces the limit from its current level of 0.10 to match the standards for people operating all other vehicles. Snyder says it’s vital to keep waterways and other recreational areas safe for all Michiganders calling this common-sense legislation. When Michigan changed the legal alcohol limit for driving from 0.10 to 0.08 in 2003, it didn’t also do so in snowmobile, watercraft and off-road vehicle statutes.
