A teenage ATV driver was killed Saturday evening in a mishap in Sands Township, south of Marquette.
State Police troopers from the Negaunee post were called out at 7:30 pm to a logging road known locally as the Honor Camp Trail. It stretches between M-553 and the end of Silver Creek Road. They found that a side-by-side ATV carrying two teenagers had left the trail, traveled up a dirt embankment, and rolled over. The driver, 14-year-old Haley Vanabel, died at the scene. The passenger, 14-year-old Zoe Kurian, was not injured. Both are from Marquette.
