As part of National Consumer Week, the Michigan Attorney General’s office is offering tips to keep kids safe online.
Office spokeswoman, Megan Hawthorne, says as technology becomes more present in our everyday lives, it’s important parents talk with their kids about some of the dangers of the internet.
She says kids need to guard their personal information and never give out identifying information to strangers.
Parents need to know about new apps or popular sites their kids may be using and then talk with them about making safe choices.
Hawthorne says parents should also familiarize themselves with the warning signs of cyberbullying because kids don’t often talk about being bullied online.
She says more information about cyberbullying is available at ok2say.com.
