Atlantic Mine Drug Suspects Enter Pleas

Pleas have been entered for three suspects in a drug bust in Atlantic Mine.

Atlantic Mine Drug Suspects50-year-old Kevin Willis of Mount Morris and 25-year-old Anthony Brown of Flint pled Not Guilty to charges of Delivery/Manufacture of Cocaine and Heroin—both 20 year felonies; and Possession of Heroin a four year felony.

31-year-old Michael Karppinen of Atlantic Mine stood mute to the same charges plus an additional charge of Maintaining a Drug House, a two year high court misdemeanor.  A Not Guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

The three were arrested in April following an investigation by UPSET detectives.

All three suspects are currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

They are scheduled to be back in court for pretrials in about 45 days, though Prosecuting Attorney Michael Makinen indicated the suspects may be turned over to federal authorities prior to then.
