A planned electric outage will impact customers next week in Baraga County. Starting Wednesday evening ATC has planned an electricity outage for Baraga Township and the Village of L’Anse. Power will be restored by 6am Thursday morning. ATC says the outage will enable crews to safely replace four electric poles on a 69,000 volt power line. The goal of replacing old poles will limit the potential for unplanned power outages during the winter. Work will take place over ten miles between north Baraga Township and L’Anse. ATC’s out will impact customers served by UPPCO, L’Anse Utilities, Ontonagon REA, and Baraga Utilities. The utility provider apologizes for the inconvenience, and appreciates the community’s patience as crews work to improve the resiliency of the power grid. The ATC power outage will begin at 6 pm on October 23rd, and end at 6am next Thursday.
