UPDATE: The arraignment for the suspect in the alleged sexual assault case is currently being postponed pending further investigation. A date for his first court appearance has not been set. The identity of the susect is being held pending arraignment.

A suspect accused of sexual assault is expected to appear in 97th District Court in Houghton today.
The Houghton Police Department made the arrest though the incident was initially reported to Michigan Tech’s Department of Public Safety and Police Services.
The alleged assault reportedly took place off-campus in the early morning hours of March 5th and was reported to Tech officials on March 11th.
The male suspect was lodged in the Houghton County Jail.
The incident is still under investigation.
