U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow today announced that the Houghton County Memorial Airport has been awarded an $820,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to acquire new snow removal equipment to keep the airport serviceable during snow periods
“Airports are a critical part of Michigan’s infrastructure,” said Senator Peters. “This grant will help Houghton County Memorial Airport conduct the maintenance and upkeep necessary to operate at the highest standard and ensure a pleasant flight for travelers.”
“This investment will make travelling to and from the Upper Peninsula safer and more efficient,” said Senator Stabenow. “Safe and reliable air travel will also help encourage businesses to invest in the region and create jobs.”
