A former prosecutor and a former FBI chief have been tapped to head up the attorney general’s investigation into the Flint water crisis.
Todd Flood, a former assistant prosecutor in Wayne County, will serve as special counsel on the probe into the high lead levels in the city’s water and if any laws were violated.
Andrew Arena, who ran the FBI’s Detroit field office from 2007 to 2012, will join Flood.
Attorney General Bill Schuette says the independent investigation will be exhaustive and thorough.
Michigan Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon criticized the choice of Flood to spearhead the investigation because he donated to Governor Rick Snyder’s gubernatorial campaign.
Flood responded to claims of a potential conflict of interest saying he’s given to both Democrats and Republicans and it won’t sway the investigation.
