ACLU of MI to File Lawsuit

The American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan is filing a lawsuit to back what they say are the legal rights of about 300 same-sex couples who were married last month during a brief window period when Michigan’s ban on same sex marriage was lifted by a court decision. On March 21st, a U.S. District judge in Detroit ruled that the voter-approved ban on same sex marriage was unconstitutional. Clerks in four counties then issued 300 marriage licenses before the Court of Appeals issued a stay of the District court ruling. M-Live reports that the ACLU will file the suit this afternoon in Detroit.
