Michigan’s bar exam, next administered to law school graduates and would-be lawyers on July 29, will include a new scoring system for the essay portion of the exam. In a statement released Wednesday, the Board of Law Examiners said the new scoring system will reflect the increased difficulty between the essay and multiple choice section of the exams, and will ensure that essay scores show consistent competency. According to the board, the new system has been “favorably” received by the deans at Michigan’s law schools and will help set up a common scoring scale “to the extent possible” for the exam.
