2nd Flint Hearing Held in Lansing

The state’s auditor general was back in the hot seat Tuesday at the second state legislative hearing on the Flint water crisis.

He fielded questions from the six lawmakers on the panel of an audit he performed of the state Department of Environmental Quality’s drinking water division.

The committee will meet again, next week, in Flint.

Senate Republican Jim Stamas of Midland is chairman of the committee says those asked to testify include Flint Mayor Karen Weaver, former Mayor Dayne Walling and Dr. Mona Hannah-Attisha, who helped uncover the lead problem in Flint’s water.

The committee is also hoping to hear from people directly impacted by Flint’s lead contaminated water.

The hearing will be held at the U of M Flint campus.

Members of the committee, including Stamas, visited Flint Monday and toured the water treatment plant.
