The dates have been confirmed for next year’s Houghton County Fair. At its recent annual meeting, the Fair Board set the event at its usual time in late summer – specifically, August 24th to 27th. The 2017 fair will have a familiar look. Most of the major entertainment offerings will be repeated, including Midwest Monster Trucks, the Whispering Pines Mobile Zoo, and Fast Action Motor Sports. The youth talent show that replaced the queen pageant will return, as will midway provider Skerbeck Entertainment. After receiving positive reviews from from patrons, the fair board has signed them to a three-year contract. 2016 fair attendance was three percent higher than 2015, with an estimated turnout of 25,150. Rick Freeman will serve as president of the Fair board next year.
