2015 MI Christmas Tree Selected From The U.P. Again

The holiday season is still more than a month away, but the state already has chosen its 2015 Christmas tree.

The 66-foot spruce comes from Wakefield in the western Upper Peninsula and is being donated by Florence Daniels in memory of her husband, the late Jim Daniels.

Daniels taught and coached sports in the Wakefield School System for 30 years. He was also named U.P. Coach of the Year during his tenure and is in the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame.

This will be Michigan’s 30th official Christmas tree, and the 21st selected from the Upper Peninsula.

The tree will be transported free of charge by the Michigan Association of Timbermen, the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association and Michigan Operators Engineers and is scheduled to arrive at the state Capitol on Saturday, October 31st.

The tree lighting will take place on Friday, November 20th, as part of Lansing’s “Silver Bells in the City” celebration.
