2014 PastyFest

The event celebrating an icon in the Copper Country is finally here. The 2014 PastyFest is taking place this weekend at Agasizz Park in Calumet. The fesitivities will start later today at 7 o’clock with the Main Street Calumet Community Service Awards held at the Calumet Collesium Ballroom. Historian Richard Dana will be receiving the Russell Erkkila Community Service award and his wife, Calumet village controller Susan Dana, will receive the Rita Finch Community Service award. The John Perona Copper Country Traditions award will go to artist Ed Gray. The PastyFest parade will take place tomorrow morning at 11 and the big pasty bake-off begins at 1 o’clock. Connie Hella, owner of Connie’s Kitchen, says preparations for her entry have already begun.

Laura Smyth from Main Street Calumet says although there are many events that take place in the area this time of the year, there simply is nothing like PastyFest.
