19-Year Old Killed In Stanton Township Crash

A teenager is dead after a one car rollover accident in Stanton Township.

Just after 4 a.m. Saturday, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a rollover accident on Beacon Hill Toivola Road near Freda Road. When police arrived on scene, they discovered that both people had been ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, a 19-year-old Atlantic Mine man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to U.P. Health System – Portage and later to U.P. Health System – Marquette for injuries sustained in the accident.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
