A Canadian exploration company will have more time to develop its copper mining projects in the Upper Peninsula.
A statement from the Highland Copper Company says they’ve worked out an amendment to their agreement with BRP LLC to extend the deadline for Highland to complete a feasibility study on the project.
The study could earn the Keweenaw mining project a 65% interest.
The deadline, which had been October 26th of this year, was extended to December 31st of 2017.
As consideration for this extension, Highland has agreed to secure some of the historical shafts located on the Keweenaw region and has submitted a budget for environmental work to be completed as part of the feasibility study.
The Keweenaw project includes the 543S and G2 copper deposits.
Highland has also been working on developing two other projects in the U.P.—White Pine North and Copperwood
