Bill Will Help Those Discharged Due To PTSD

When a servicemember is suffering mentally from the trials of war, that can sometimes lead to further problems ultimately resulting in a discharge.

Senator Gary Peters has co-introduced bipartisan legislation that would help veterans who were dishonorably discharged from the military due to behavior resulting from mental traumas such as post traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injury.

Peters says this will help veterans who have had their access to benefits blocked because of their discharge.

The measure is supported by the VFW and the Disabled Veterans of America.

The bill is before the Veterans Armed Services Committee.
