About 100 high school students were recently given a taste of Michigan State Police (MSP) trooper school. Dale George reports.
54 students sponsored by the American Legion and 51 students sponsored by the Michigan District of Kiwanis participated in an abbreviated trooper school.
Sergeant Michael McDonald of the MSP Training Division says the week-long program is designed to help develop leadership skills and teach law enforcement fundamentals including first aid, firearms training and patrol tactics.
McDonald says the program also gives the MSP an chance to share information about career opportunities in law enforcement.
The high school training program is conducted each summer.
