Wisconsin Sheriff Dept. Recovers a Vehicle Stolen from Hancock Yesterday

Florence County Sheriff in Wisconsin recovered a vehicle that was stolen in Hancock Yesterday. Just before 4 pm yesterday, Hancock Police received a complaint for a stolen 2021 Blue Chevy Trailblazer, near Finn Street. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside. The police department issued a BOLO on the vehicle. With the help of OnStar the vehicle was located, and stopped in Florence County, Wisconsin.

The Florence County Sheriff, arrested three individuals in the compact SUV. They are charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, and various drug possession charges, including methamphetamine, unmarked prescription pills, and marijuana. Possession of cannabis in Wisconsin remains criminalized, with some areas making the possession of small amounts a municipal fine. First offenses in Wisconsin are considered a misdemeanor, carrying a maximum penalty of six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine. In Michigan recreational cannabis use became legal in 2018.

The Florence County report was forwarded to the Houghton County Prosecutor for review and further action. The names of those arrested have not been released, pending arraignment. The incident is still under investigation.
