Wisconsin man dies in snowmobile accident near Ontonagon-Houghton county border

A Wisconsin man died in a snowmobile accident near the Houghton and Ontoangon county line, along the Bill Nichols trail. On Friday the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s office responded to a snowmobile personal injury accident on Trail No. 3 near the county line. Officers found a 44-year-old male victim from Green Leaf Wisconsin, was deceased upon arrival. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Officials believe speed may have been a factor in the crash. Ontonagon County Sheriff was assisted by the Michigan state police, Aspirus Medivac, Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue, and the Ontongon County Medical Examiner. No other information has been released at the time.
