Volunteer Portal Opens for the Copper Dog 150 in March

While there may not be much snow on the ground yet. That does not mean the Copper Country won’t build anticipation for the 2024 Copper Dog sled dog race. Recently organizers opened up access to the volunteer portal for this year. The race has plenty of need for passionate and dedicated people to help put on the close-out to the Upper Peninsula dog sledding season. Before the big race weekend volunteers will meet for training in February, and organizers are working out final details. There are plenty of great ways to get involved in Copper Dog. Including personal positions for those interested in helping mushers with their teams in Calumet, Eagle Harbor, and Copper Harbor as dog handlers. Or as a bag checker helping to ensure teams are fully prepared for the trail. As well as road crossing positions that include crossing guards, who help set up road crossings. Timers help keep track of times and bibs for teams on the trail. Crossing coordinators, who help get equipment such as snow fences and volunteer bibs to each location and return times to race organizers. The Copper Dog 150 race weekend will take place from March 1 through the 3rd.

Sign up to volunteer here.

Those interested in becoming a Crossing Coordinator should contact Volunteer Director Krissy Kovachich at krissykovachich@copperdog150.com
