Visit Keweenaw Prepares to Break a Record on Plaidurday

In just two more days Visit Keweenaw will look to help the city of Houghton break a world record. On Friday, during the Plaidurday holiday locals will plan to meet at the Houghton High School for a photo full of people wearing plaid shirts. Visit Keweenaw Executive Director says to be safe they’ll need at least one thousand three hundred and sixty copper country residents to take the record, and bring it to the Upper Peninsula.

“So there is a community in Ontario that is the current record holder. The record is 1,352 I believe. So we are looking for 1,360 to be safe. We are looking at gathering folks together on October 6th at 12:45 p.m. at the Houghton High School football field. Put on your plaid. Get in the picture. Rain or shine. And help us make memories for a lifetime and break a world record. It’s going to be a lot of fun.” Brad Barnett, Executive Director, Visit Keweenaw

Residents who love plaid and want to join the record-breaking day will need to meet at Houghton High School football field at 12:45. Those in attendance will also receive a free silicone band to commemorate the special day. Find more information on Visit Keweenaw’s website here.
