Victim of Hancock ATV Incident Released from Hospital

The elderly man injured by an ATV driver on Sunday in Hancock has released from the hospital. Hancock Police notified the community today, that the victim of Sunday’s incident has been released from UPHS Portage hospital and will complete recovery at home. Additionally the department identified the ATV driver as 22 year Joshua Kemppainen of Quincy Township.

On Monday Kemppainen was found dead at his home of a single self inflicted gunshot wound. He did not have any known prior interactions with law enforcement. The Hancock Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Houghton County Sheriff Office, Houghton City Police, Michigan State Police, and the FBI Marquette field office.
