The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department is conducting another community vaccination event at the Student Development Complex at Michigan Tech on Thursday. Michael Babcock from the Portage Health Foundation passes along word that there are several openings still available. You have the option of selecting the Moderna or Johnson and Johnson vaccines.
Health Director Kate Beer says that the J&J doses have a shorter shelf life compared to other vaccines. Given the pause on administering that particular shot, officials are now scrambling to ensure that a large amount of the vaccine does not end up having to be disposed of due to expiration.
