USDA Forest Service opens the 2025 Cohesive Fire Strategy grant program

The USDA Forest Service’s eastern region has opened access to the 2025 Cohesive Fire Strategy grant program. The competitive grant program supports local wildfire management initiatives on non-federal lands in 20 Northeastern and midwestern states. In the past five years, the USDA’s eastern region has distributed nearly 21 million dollars in grant awards and expects to award 2.8 million dollars as a part of the program in 2025.

The Cohesive Fire Strategy grant program supports communities and resources by restoring, and maintaining resilient landscapes, and creating fire-adapted communities. Eligible applicants include recognized tribal nations, state and local governments, non-profit organizations, forest fire compacts, and academic institutions. The program will award grants worth between 25,000 and 300,000 dollars. The deadline to apply for the USDA Eastern Region’s 0225 cohesive fire strategy grant program will be January 15th.
