The United States Department of Agriculture and Rural Development announced nearly 600,000 dollars will support energy investments in the Upper Peninsula.
Last week the USDA Acting State Director for Michigan Valarie Handy announced that 599,338 dollars worth of grant funding will support Upper Peninsula agriculture producers and rural businesses making investments in renewable energy. The latest batch of grant funds, says Handy, support a majority of solar projects and will help with energy efficiency.
The grant funds will support two projects in Alger County including a $250,000 refrigeration and lighting project at Jubilee Foods. Delta County has one project earning support from the program, as well as a project in Menominee County. There are three solar projects taking place in Marquette County supported by the Rural Energy for America program.
