Houghton County replaced 400 light bulbs thanks to an energy efficiency program with UPPCO. Yesterday upper technicians worked in the Houghton County Courthouse to replace the building’s mercury vapor lightbulbs, with new LED fluorescent bulbs. County administrator Ben Larsen additionally shared that the program the county used to upgrade to energy-efficient lighting, is open to any business, municipality, or home in the region that is a UPPCO customer. In addition to the energy efficiency program, UPPCO will host a two-day community event next week to give away energy efficiency kits to UPPCO customers. The efficiency kit giveaway will take place at two locations in the Keweenaw Peninsula on November 7th and 8th. UPPCO customers can pick up a free kit from the utility company between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Kirkish Furniture in Houghton or Pat’s Foods in Calumet.
UPPCO will be hosting a 2 day event at both Kirkish Furniture in Houghton and Pat’s Foods in Calumet on November 7-8 from 10am-5pm. All UPPCO customers can receive Free Energy Efficiency Kits at both locations and both days.
