UPHS Portage CEO reports good health in recent hospital update with Wake UP Keweenaw

UPHS Portage has had an exciting year. The local hospital has sponsored several community events. As large as Bridgefest and as intimate as the breast cancer awareness dinner. The facilities have also added several new physicians, including one that never leaves the operating room, a da Vinci surgical robot.

OBGYN, your general surgeon, your urologist, 95% of them are trained on this (da Vinci machine) and they want to go practice in a place that has this. So we had some surgeons that were trained. Next year we’ll have three more so we’ll get to five by this time next year. – Ryan Heinonen, CEO, UPHS – Portage

Overall,  UPHS – Portage CEO Ryan Heinonen says, the hospital remains in good health. UPHS Portage plans to continue developing its services, staff, and technology to better provide Healthcare to the Copper Country. Heinonen shared the hospital’s community update with business leaders at the Wake UP Keweenaw series with the chamber of commerce.
