In the last two years communities throughout the Upper Peninsula have installed new electric car chargers. Enough of the stations have been installed that one could drive from Copper Harbor to Miami Florida on electricity over gasoline. On Saturday the Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition will host a special education program to share information about the electric vehicle revolution in Marquette.
UPEC has invited Technical and Environmental Educator Steve Waller to share his experience driving over 40,000 miles with his Tesla Model Y. Including a story of how the electric vehicle faired during a 4,100-mile round trip from Marquette to Seattle Washington. Waller taught at Northern Michigan University during the past 30 years, teaching courses on wind and solar power. During the presentation in Marquette, he will talk about topics from the sticker price of a new vehicle to the tax credits available to electric car owners. As well as speak on safety, vehicle range, and the practicality of owning an electric car in the Upper Peninsula.
The UPEC Electric Cars presentation will begin at 2 pm on March 9th, at the Federated Women’s Clubhouse at 104 Ridge Street. Find more details here.
