Throughout the year the U.P. Community Health Town Hall series discusses important topics that affect communities across the region.
This month the Center for Rural Health at Northern Michigan University will invite three individual experts working with domestic violence victims to its panel. Tomorrow’s town hall, led by the Center’s Director Elise Bur, will be joined by Mary Niemala with the Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home in Houghton County, Hannah Holma, a program director with the Women’s Center in Marquette, and Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney Jenna Nelson. Niemala and Holma will share information about domestic abuse victims and the region’s resources that are available. Nelson will share information on the legal perspective, and recent work by the state to more effectively protect victims from abusers.
The U.P. Community Health town hall can be heard on the radio or viewed online. You can hear the town hall on 97.7 The Wolf tomorrow beginning at 7 pm.
