The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan announced the sentencings of two Sault Ste. Marie men for sexual crimes involving children. 48-year-old Duane Richard Forrest received 50 years for photographing and videotaping sexual acts with two boys in their early teens. Judge Paul L. Maloney awarded 25 years for each victim and ordered that the sentences be served consecutively, rather than at the same time. Forrest also will be sentenced on state charges at a later date. He has already pled guilty in that matter.
53-year-old Ralph Fletcher Hepner got 30 years for abuse of a child under the age of twelve. His case was investigated by tribal police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
