Michigan State Police responded to a fatal car crash in Marquette Township. At approximately 4:45 am this morning the Michigan State Police Nagaunee outpost responded to a single-vehicle accident at County Road 550 near Middle Island Road. Troopers were advised the vehicle was carrying three passengers, and one had been ejected during the accident. Upon arrival, troopers identified the 16-year-old male driver and 17-year-old female passenger as injured. Both were transported to UP health systems for serious injuries sustained in the crash. A third passenger, an 18-year-old male, was found entrapped inside the vehicle. The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Michigan state police were assisted on the scene by the Marquette city police department, Marquette Township Fire, and UPHS EMS.
